acl surgery allograft recovery timeline

ACL allograft surgery report thread; Page 1 of 3 1 2 3 Last. Obviously full extension, full flexion – i achieve full flexion easier and easier these days (ie dont need as much stretching or exercising to get it). The reasons for this could be multiple ranging from the worst – tear of the graft, to the intermediate – the graft got lax either during the recovery or was not put in with the right tension, or the best outcome in this bad situation – that it will tense up a bit more while recovering, i was extremely disappointed and discouraged after hearing this given the hard work and time i have put into this surgery, the next step is to possibly get an MRI to get a better sense of how the recovery is going inside, but the doctor said that given the stage in the recovery the MRI might not yield conclusive results since the tissue inside is still healing, very, very disheartening news for me. let me know what you think – post a comment ! Basically slept with the brace on and full straight leg which kid of got uncomfortable after a while and got blisters on the back of my heel, Doing icing daily twice or  three times using bag of ice as well as cyro-cuff ice machine, The cyro-cuff ice machine is basically an overhyped cooler with a tube stuck to it and a knee pouch made out of rubber with an empy inside where cool water resides and circulates. I really think that it is alot about getting back the full strength of the quad, No leg extensions btw – not recommended by doctor and all rehab protocols i read advise against it, At the end of week 9 i could finally go down a flight of stairs – although assisted (ie i need to hold the side bar to get some weight off), i still need to improve going up and down the stairs but gait is now fine; i only get a little limpy after walking around alot and when the knee starts getting tired, i must admit i have days like today when i am just sick and tired of this injury. • Also, every individual patient’s recovery is different, and may require more or less time than expected. have to do 10 min of stretching before heading out to work. Dont get too excited but media fantasy is back on with a pic of my 2 legs @ 11 weeks. • Allograft ACL … my left leg has become a monster b/c all of the workouts where i cannot properly isolate the operated leg. Cant even take a week off from this damn thing ??????! luckily for him turns out it was just a grade I sprain of the LCL. given the holidays i decided to take a little break from doing workouts, massages, etc but unfortunately this stagnation led to the leg not feeling that great, being tight alot, not going down stairs properly at all. ACL Recovery Timeline: Preparation Stage 4. Depends on the graft: There are many variables when it comes to acl grafts. !&*##*@(*$(#, unfortunately my recovery took a bit of a set-back this week, got the MRI and the results are very very dissapointing, nothing substantial to report; still extremely angry about the whole situation, have been doing alot of stretching yoga like exercies which have gotten the foot a bit better responsive, have been very busy with work in the past few weeks so have not had a chance to update the blotter, nor did i have a chance to actually go to the gym, i have to confess i have not really being doing much of anything in terms of exercising in the past few weeks, Had my surgery in the morning and by 6pm on the 20, Had my surgery on a thursday and by sunday i was off  painkillers, i kept taking them randomly during the week (only one at a time) especially in the evening when i could not fall asleep right away b/c of discomfort / pain, my leg was all bandaged up and i went on day 4 to the doctor to get the bandage changed (there was no blood staining the thing and i did not take it out until seeing the doctor), i went to sleep with the big black leg brace as per the doctor’s instructions, Still firmly on crutches with the swelling coming down oh so very slowly, Since working from home I am not moving much around except when I take the time to do the exercises, Started going to PT on day 7 after my surgery, The surgeon wanted me to start day 4 or day 5 but I wanted to be less aggressive about it, Absolutely cannot do straight leg raises (SLRs), Ah, and yes – no tossing and turning. i am seeing my surgeon this wednesday. Often has to do with a availability and demand of the particular type. Big Betta Fish. Phase I - First two weeks after surgery; Phase II - two to six weeks after surgery; Phase III - six weeks to three to four months after surgery; Phase IV - four to six months after surgery Patient must meet all the criteria for return to sports; No soft tissue or range of motion complaints; Physician must clear the patient to resume full activities Totally freaked me out. Recuperation timeline acl surgery recovery. If you have injured your ACL and are preparing for surgery using an allograft, then you are in the right place. i can see myself starting doing that as well – when my ACL gives me no trouble its no longer #1, but when it acts up – bam! i constantly have to massage my hammstrings and they really bother me alot, i read online that after teh hamstring graft 70% of the patients have the  grafted portion grow back in some shape or form, while for the other 30% the muscle never goes back, i dont know in which category i stand, but the back of the leg has really been bothering me. Wilk, K. E. et al. The recovery from ACL surgery takes place over the course of several months. Synonyms acl ante…. , i have met plenty of people who went back to the sport of their choice aggressively (after 8 months or more) and ended up re-tearing their graft. nothing i can do but exercise, not do sports, use comfrey, massage and fucking exercise some more, i have been doing morning stretches before heading out to work , nothing more in the past 2 weeks, and unfortunately i kinda of feel it, my knee kind of stopped bothering me but my hamstrings have kicked in really bothering me daily, what do i mean by that – a healthy muscle is one you dont “feel” is there. I am waiting to get the quads to a state i am comfortable with, other than that going down the stairs (especially steep ones) is not always a smooth action, so definitely there is some good amount of work to be done, i am still watching my nutrition, getting my vitamins and doing the above but the process for me has been quite slow in getting my strength    back to a level i am comfortable with, my bad leg has been bothering me alot as of late, especially when walking – the pain is on the tibia side, where the graft is supposed to attach to the bone;  also my knee itself hurts and pops, i decided to get a 3rd party independent opinion regarding my progression so i went to a different orthopedist, he took an X-ray of my knee and also performed the Lachman test, the x-ray came out well – he said the tunnels both on the femur and tibia side look good in terms of angle and alignment and i have a metal clip on the femur side which came up in the x-ray and an absorbable screw on the tibia side which did not show up in the x-ray, however when he performed the Lachman test on both knees he found the operated one to be lax compared to the good one.
